Psychotherapy services are not covered by OHIP. Many extended health care plans cover psychotherapy services provided by members registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Jennifer Fisher is a Registered Psychotherapist. Clients are provided with paid receipts which they may then submit to their insurance companies. Please check with your individual insurance provider to learn about the amount of possible coverage for your policy.
Ongoing psychotherapy treatment is $200/hour.
Fees can be paid via e-transfer, debit, Visa, or MasterCard. Clients pay at the end of each session.
If paying out of pocket and finances are a concern, some clients will schedule bi-weekly or monthly sessions instead of weekly. Your budget can be discussed and considered in your treatment plan. Currently, I am able to provide a sliding scale for 10% of my overall caseload. If financial concerns are preventing you from seeking treatment, please call to discuss the sliding scale or additional local resources.

ARE SESSIONS CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes. Your confidentiality is protected whether your session is held in-person, through video, or over the phone. The information you discuss with your therapist is confidential.
Although your confidentiality is protected, there are the following exceptions:
If I learn that a child is suffering from neglect and/or abuse I must file a report with the Children’s Aid Society.
If I believe that you are at serious and imminent risk of physically harming yourself or another person, I have a duty to protect.
If you disclose abuse by a health care professional (such as a doctor) I am required to inform the appropriate regulatory body.
A court has subpoenaed your records/a judge asks for your records or my testimony.
These situations have rarely occurred in my practice and should one of the above occur it will be addressed openly, and collaboratively throughout the process. We will discuss confidentiality during our first session together.
ARE THERE SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR TELETHERAPY VS IN PERSON?
Yes. Our telehealth policy will be discussed with you during your initial session. You can review the key points ahead of time below. Please feel welcome to ask Jennifer any questions or express any concerns regarding your personal health information and/or confidentiality.
Telehealth involves the use of electronic communications to enable Inner Roots Psychotherapy to connect with clients using interactive video and audio communications. The laws that protect confidentiality of personal information also apply to telehealth.Through our partnership with the Jane booking system, your therapist can connect with you via video or telephone counselling. For your security and privacy, the Jane system is not designed to record, or store audio or video and all electronic audio and video communication will be encrypted in transit.
There are potential benefits and risks of video-counselling (e.g., limits to client confidentiality) that differ from in-person sessions. Confidentiality still applies for tele-psychotherapy services, and your sessions via video or telephone counselling will not be recorded without the expressed request and consent from the other person(s). We agree to use the video-counselling platform selected for our virtual sessions, and you will receive instructions on how to use it. You will need to use a webcam or smartphone during the session. It is important to be in a quiet, private space that is free of distractions (including other devices) during the session. It is important to use a secure internet connection rather than public/free Wi-Fi. It is helpful to have a back-up plan (e.g., phone number where you can be reached) to restart the session or to reschedule it in the event of technical problems. A safety plan will be discussed that includes at least one emergency contact and the closest emergency room to your location, in the event of a crisis. I understand that I have the right to withhold or withdraw my consent to the use of telehealth during treatment at any time, without affecting my right to future treatment. Please confirm with your insurance company that the video sessions will be reimbursed; if they are not reimbursed, you are responsible for full payment. As your therapist, I may determine that due to certain circumstances tele-psychotherapy is no longer appropriate and that a local referral for in-person sessions is recommended.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Please call or email the practice as soon as possible if you are unable to attend your appointment. As that time was reserved for you, if you provide less than 24 hours’ notice (except in emergency situations, if you are sick, or your children are sick and require your care), you will be charged the full fee for the session.
